Helen Lorene Hobbs, 78, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020, at her home.

Helen was born February 12, 1942, at the family home north of Yates Center, the daughter of John W. and Frances (Sicka) Hoag.

Helen graduated from Yates Center High School and was a life-long resident of the Yates Center area.

On February 23, 1963, she and Floyd Leon Hobbs were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yates Center. They became the parents of five children.

When her children were young Helen provided daycare for other children in her home. She also worked with Floyd at the butcher shop. After her children were old enough she worked as a custodian for the Yates Center schools, the Yates Center Community Building, and also worked at the Tip-Top Restaurant and the Peter Pan store.

Helen was a long time, faithful, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yates Center and a member of the Altar Society.

She enjoyed anything that had to do with her family, whether it was fishing with her children and grandchildren or going to the casino with some of her siblings. She loved all her family very much.

Her husband, Floyd, preceded her in death on May 24, 2020, following more than 57 years of marriage. She was also preceded by her parents; two grandchildren, Seth Tadlock and Molly Wilson; three brothers, Robert, Eugene and Louis Hoag, one sister, Barbara Roberts; and two  sisters-in-law, Rosemarie Hoag and Carrie Hoag.

She leaves her children, Tina Trafton and husband David of Bonner Springs, KS, Mark Hobbs and wife Lynn, Jurad Hobbs and wife Kelly, Cristie Hobbs, and Anthony "Tony" Hobbs and wife Angela, all of Yates Center; 10 grandchildren, Amie and Christopher Trafton, John Tadlock (Rebecca), Isaac Tadlock (Anneliese), Gabe Hobbs (Leah), Clifford Hobbs, Shawn Morris, Shiely Hobbs, Chayse Hobbs, and Nariko Hobbs;15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gilbert and his wife Rita, of Bonner Springs, and Jim and his wife Ronica, of Toronto, two sisters, Thresa Ehrhart and her husband Terry, of Eureka, Kansas, Rose Ann Steinbacher and her husband Ralph, of Bonner Springs; a sister-in-law, Sally Hoag of Arkansas City, KS; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Private family funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yates Center. Burial will follow in Yates Center Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.
