Helen Elizabeth Rolf-Bolen went home to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, January 22, 2023.

Helen was born July 25, 1935, to Edward and Lorena Gleue-Rolf of Aliceville, Kansas.  She and her brothers and sister grew up on the farm and enjoyed their family time together.  Helen being the oldest, took on greater responsibility for chores and helped with the younger siblings.

Helen attended St. John Lutheran and Avondale schools. Skills learned at a young age include sewing while watching her mom at her sewing machine, gardening from her Grandpa Gleue, and babysitting cousins. She used those skills when she became a nanny for mothers in the area. This led her to Wichita to care for the Blanton children who became life-long extended family.

While in Wichita, Helen also worked at Cowboy Cleaners where she met the love of her life, Wayne Bolen.  They both had grown up as residents near LeRoy, Kansas but had never met until they were in Wichita. They married on November 29, 1959 and made their home in LeRoy. From this union they had three children. David, Dara, and Carolyn. The couple celebrated 61 years of marriage together.

Over the years farming and gardening was a huge part of their lives. Helen and Wayne enjoyed the many hours of commitment working together. While Helen was a dedicated homemaker and caring for her children, she perfected her sewing skills and became a well-known seamstress in the area. She created many fashionable outfits and wedding dresses. Many of which were sewn with Helen's personal touch.

In 1980, she went to work for Country Critter Puppets as a sewer. She soon became the production manager which included training employees and keeping the assembly and output running smoothly. During this career, she and Wayne became sales representatives and traveled the U.S. selling the merchandise at trade shows.

After retirement, she and Wayne loved traveling. Many vacations were enjoyed with family to Branson, Missouri to see the Christmas lights and to the Colorado mountains to see the colorful leaves of the aspen trees.

Sewing being her passion, she began a small home business of machine embroidery designs. Again, her creations were enjoyed by many.

Helen was a life-long member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville, Kansas. She was baptized in Christ on August 4, 1935, and confirmed in faith on May 8, 1949.

Her husband Wayne preceded her in death on December 21 ^st , 2020. She was also preceded by her parents and her brother William (Bill) Rolf.

She is survived by her 3 children, David Bolen of LeRoy, Dara Carmichael (Scott) of St. Francis, Kansas, Carolyn Brown (Lyle) of Yates Center, Kansas. 3 grandchildren; Cassandra Braswell (Jason), Joseph Brown (Ashley), Lucas Carmichael (Jordan), a brother Alfred Rolf(Jeannie) of Olathe, Kansas, a sister Dorothy Maier(Lee) of LeRoy, Kansas, a sister in law Jane Rolf of LeRoy,Kansas, and many extended grandchildren, family, and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 27, 2023, at St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
