Harry Eugene "Gene" Huff, 71, of Burlington, KS, passed away Thursday morning, March 3, 2022, at his home.

He was born June 3, 1950, at Emporia, KS, the son of Charles Andrew and Ruth Jean (Garrett) Huff. He grew up in Burlington and was active in Boy Scouts of America, a member of the Order of the Arrow, received the Eagle Scout Award, and attended the World Scout Jamboree in England. He graduated from Burlington High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He then returned home and began to work with his parents at Huff's Gardens in Burlington.

On December 15, 1972, he and Debra Marie Winterringer were married at the Burlington Christian Church. They became the parents of three children.

Harry eventually assumed ownership of Huff's Gardens which he operated until his retirement in 2017.

He was a member of the Burlington Christian Church of Burlington where he served as a deacon, a member of the choir, and was a song leader for several years. He was also a member of the Topeka Capital Chorus, a men's barbershop chorus. Harry loved music and would come alive on stage when he sang with his fellow chorus members. He was a man of service and offered what he could to his community. He donated flowers to Cookson Hills ministries, Morning Star Ranch, and worked with Eckan to provide plants and flowers to families in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Susan Hawley; an infant brother, Charles Samuel; and a brother-in-law, Larry Salava.

He leaves Debra, his wife of more than 49 years; his children, Matthew Huff, Burlington, Charles Huff (Miranda), Wisconsin, and Monica Greenwood (Rich), Lawrence, KS; 8 grandchildren, Hailey, Matti, Mary Jane, Taylor, Delaney, Ashlyn, and Charles Huff and Nola Greenwood; three sisters, Helen Steele (Tom), Sutherland, IA, Lou Ann Huskisson (Dan), Peoria, AZ, and Cathy Salava, Columbus, NE; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

The celebration of life will be held at the Christian Church of Burlington on Saturday March 12 ^th , at 10:30am.
