Glenda Kay (Harris) Jones, 83, of Burlington, Kansas, died Monday morning, December 23, 2019, at the Coffey County Hospital.

She was born June 24, 1936, in Topeka, KS, the only child of Glenn Edgar and Viola Mildred (Lloyd) Harris.

She lived in Topeka until 1951, when she moved to Lebo to go to High School and lived with her grandmother Lloyd. She graduated from Lebo High School in 1954.

Glenda married Donald David Jones on July 10, 1954, in Lebo. She attended the University of Minnesota for 1 year, while Don attended Mortuary School there.

They moved to Burlington in 1956, to open the Jones Funeral Home. Glenda worked at the funeral home for 60 years until health issues caused her to retire.

Glenda was a member of the United Methodist Church for which she had served as a Trustee, organist, singer, co-chairman of Dining Room committee, taught Sunday School and Bible School, and served on various other committees. She was Past Matron of the Martha Chapter #73 O.E.S. and was currently a member of the LeRoy Chapter O.E.S. She was Past President of Chapter CO, P.E.O., Past President of the Rock Creek Country Club, a member of the original Board of Directors of the Coffey County Council for the Arts, member of the Advisory Council to Coffey County 21 ^st Century Community Learning Center, and the Burlington Beautification Committee.

She and Don suffered the loss of their son, Scott Harris Jones, on September 7, 1971.

Her husband, Don, preceded her in death on September 12, 2002.

Glenda remained in their home until failing health caused her to move to The Meadows in Burlington. She had been a resident of Sunset Manor in Waverly since January.

She leaves four sons, Chris (Andrea) Jones, Lane (Cindy) Jones, and Brad (Darla) Jones, all of Burlington, and Darin Jones of Parsons, KS; grandchildren, Cassie Jones, Callie Lopez (Mike), Ethan Jones (Dani), Noah Jones, Dione Mispagel (Keith), Mindy Maas (John), Sara Bucar (Nate), Lance Jones, Trent Ditto, Jordan Jones, Brock Ditto, Tiah Ditto, Mitchell, Colin, Rhian, & Owen Jones; and great-grandchildren, Chloe Lopez, Jack and Charlie Jones, and Ella Bucar, Tanner, Blake, Parker, Brody, and Keegan Mispagel.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 27, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in Burlington. Burial will follow in Lincoln Cemetery in Lebo, KS.

The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
