Gladys Mae Oswald of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away October 18, 2018. She was 94 years old. She was born December 21, 1923 in Woodson County. The daughter of Frederick and Lillie Bauersfeld, she grew up on a farm near the Toronto, Kansas area. She attended country school and graduated from Yates Center High School in 1942.

On May 14, 1942 Gladys married Charles Oswald. To their union one son Larry was born in July 1946.

Besides being a housewife and mother, she worked 18 years for Southwestern Bell Telephone until they went dial in 1962, she worked 12 years for Josten's Sewing Factory as an Inspector, since retiring she did a lot of volunteer work in the Yates Center area and spoiling her Great Grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Yates Center, Kansas.

She is survived by two Grandchildren, Jeff Oswald (Marilyn) of Topeka, and Jana Oswald-Waddell of Burlington; 7 Great-Grandchildren, Zachary, Chase, and Hunter Oswald and Alex Waddell all of Yates Center, Raylee (Rodger) McClelland, Christine Hamman (Levi), and Sarah McCullough of Topeka; 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren, Addison Mulsow and Joshua and Emma Hamman of Topeka; and  a niece Sandra DeLauter of Maryland.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, son Larry, and two sisters Harriet Nichols and Dorothy DeLauter.

Memorial services will be held 1:30 P.M. Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the Yates Center Cemetery Gazebo. Inurnment will follow in Yates Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions have been suggested for the First Baptist Church, Yates Center Senior Center, or Midland Hospice of Topeka, Kansas.
