Gayle Joy (Wright) Engel, 73, of rural LeRoy, Kansas, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022.

She was born March 29, 1948, in Sweet Home, Oregon, the daughter of Lee Roy and Sylvia (Jones) Wright.

Gayle's family moved back to Kansas in 1948, shortly after she was born. She attended rural, Sunnyside grade school and Colony, Kansas high school.

On February 27, 1966, Gayle and Raymond "Jack" Engel were married in Iola, Kansas. They became the parents of two daughters, Lisa Lee, and Peggy Lynn. Jack and Gayle celebrated 50 years of marriage.

In addition to being a loving and caring housewife and mother, Gayle assisted Jack with the farm and livestock.

Gayle enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, and cooking for, and with, her family. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her parents and ten siblings.

She is Survived by her two children, Lisa Engel, Burlington, and Peggy Eccles (Keith), LeRoy, Two grandchildren Jennifer Eccles (Sam) and Justin Eccles, Two Great- grandchildren, Logan and Natalie and her brother, Jim Wright, of Haltom City, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 26, 2022, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, Kansas. Interment Will Occur on a later date.
