Gary Eugene "Getty" Tyner, 64, lifelong resident of Toronto, Kansas, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022, at Fredonia Regional Hospital in Fredonia, KS.

Gary was born June 10, 1957, at Eureka, Kansas, the son of Henry Eugene and Anna Pearl (Cole) Tyner. He graduated from Eureka High School in 1975.

In August of 1982 he and Betty Knowles were married. They became the parents of two daughters, Miranda and Ashley. Betty preceded him in death on October 10, 2002.

Following Betty's death Gary shared his life with Becky Wassenaar for many years. They partook in many adventures before her death on September 28, 2012.

He worked farming for Ed Sherman for 10 years and then was a blade operator for the Woodson County Road and Bridge Department. He also did all kinds of carpentry work and was known as a "jack-of-all-trades". He retired in 2020 due to health reasons.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harley Tyner.

He leaves his wife, Jessica Tyner, of the home; his daughters, Miranda Weber (Nathan) of Yates Center, and Ashley Nichols (Jason) of Eureka; 3 grandchildren, Shane and Natalie Weber and Wyatt Nichols; his brother, Rick Tyner, Toronto; his sister, Dorothy Currant, Navarre, FL; a bonus son, Scotty Shaw; other relatives and many, many friends who in Getty's eyes were always family.

Memorial graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Toronto Cemetery.

A Celebration of Gary's Life will be held starting at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Getty's Bar, 101 E. Main St, Toronto, KS 66777.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gary Tyner Memorial Fund (a college fund for his grandchildren) and may be sent in care of Campbell Funeral Home, PO Box 188, Yates Center, KS 66783.
