Gary R. Raaf, of rural Gridley, died Sunday evening October 14, 2018 at Coffey County Hospital. He was 80.

Gary was born April 6 ^th , 1938 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Frank and Ida (Winzler) Raaf. He grew up on the family farm near Gridley. He attended Cola Hill for grades 1-8 and graduated from Gridley Rural High School in 1956.

On August 31, 1958 he was married to Charlene Kraft of Gridley. They were the parents of two children.

Gary was a farmer and stockman in the Gridley area most of his life. He also worked for Countertop Supply as a laborer and truck driver for 10 years.

He served as a board member for USD #245 school district and the local Farm Bureau.

Gary enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and taking his kids and grandkids to school activities and helping out with their 4-H projects.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law David Riffle.

Survivors include Charlene, his wife of 60 years; a daughter, Luanne Lee and husband Chris, of Quinter; son Darin of Denver, Colorado; 2 granddaughters, Avery Lee, Wichita, and Katelyn Lee, Manhattan, and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 19, 2018, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.

The family will meet with friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the funeral home.

Inurnment will be in Gridley Cemetery
