Gary went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 21, 2021.

Gary Eugene Meats was born on May 19, 1946, in LeRoy, Kansas to Sharon "Doc" and Marian Ward Meats. Gary grew up in LeRoy and graduated from LeRoy High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Iola. Gary was born and raised on the farmstead North of LeRoy, KS. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher, enjoying countless trips to see his cattle in the Flinthills, to the feed yards in Western Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and Illinois. He was a good steward of the land, farming all of his life, receiving multiple awards.

Gary had a passion for the outdoors, hunting and sports, playing many sports himself. He often reminisced about games he played himself or watch Mike & Brian play. He tried his best to attend his grandchildren & great grandchildren sporting events.

Gary treasured his time with his family. He instilled a strong sense of work ethics, dedication, determination, loyalty, and honesty. Gary enjoyed meeting people.

He did not know a stranger! The family said he could pick a farmer out of any crowd & start a conversation. Family and farming were his life. Gary lived his life to the fullest!

He was previously married to Mildred Salava and to this union two sons were born Michael and Brian Meats. On August 19, 1983, he married the love of his life, Judy A. Willitts, at the Assembly of God Church of LeRoy, Kansas.

Gary is survived by his wife, Judy, of the home. Gary had 6 children. Michael (LeAnna) Meats and kids Ryan, Parker and Miranda, Brian (Kenda) Meats and kids Tyler, Bryson, Masie, Kaitlyn, and McKenzy, all of LeRoy. Ken (Hong) Gore of Oklahoma City and kids Ashley, Allice, and Chase, Debbie (Darrell) Dudley of Moran and kids Derek and Seth, Wendy (Jim) Kuras of New Strawn and kids Jeffrey, Rebecca and Kailey, and Jody (Dale) Wagner of Cherryvale and kids Caleb and Joshua. Gary had 2 brothers, Don (Cathy) Meats and Arlin (Sandy) Meats, both of LeRoy. Gary also has 17 great grandchildren, Collin, Landon, Alivia, Ethan, Ky'liah, Preston, Felicia, Taylor, Braedon, Caedon, Corbin, Madison, Anna, Emmalyn, Jaxson, Autumn, Quake, and Kie. Along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.

There will be a Funeral Service at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, February 26, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Iola. Those with concern over COVID-19 are encouraged to attend the burial at the LeRoy Cemetery. There will be a Come and Go Visitation on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 6:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Jones Funeral Home, Burlington.
