Freda Mae Pack, 70, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019, at Coffey County Hospital.

Freda was born on July 25, 1949, at Martins Ferry, Ohio, the daughter of  Carl and Irene (Heavner) Byers.  She grew up in Cadiz, Ohio, and graduated from high school there.  She later attended the University of Central Arkansas.

She was a Viet Nam Era Veteran of the US Army.  She served a total of 12 years, including stints in the National Guard, Reserve and active service during Viet Nam, when she was a teletype operator at Fort MacArthur in California.

On November 12, 1973, she was married to James S. Pack at Poteau, Oklahoma.  They moved to Burlington in 1985.  They enjoyed old movies and collecting all kinds of music.

She is survived by Jim, her husband of over 45 years.  Other survivors include a sister, Sharon Jones of Scio, Ohio, a brother, Carl Byers, Jr., of Cadiz, Ohio; and many other relatives and friends.
