Forrest John Stockwell, 73, Burlington died on January 25, 2020, at the Life Care Center.

Forrest was born on April 30, 1946 at Yankton, South Dakota, to John and June Rossiter Stockwell, the oldest of 11 siblings.

Forrest joined the army in 1969 and spent a year in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged February 1, 1973 as an Army SP5.

On June 15, 1974, he married Barbara Mohatt in Sidney, Nebraska. They became the parents of two daughters named Sarah and Karen.

Forrest had earned a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Nebraska and a master's degree in structural engineering from the University of Missouri. He had worked at various nuclear plants throughout the Midwest before coming to Burlington in 1992 where he worked and retired from Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corp.

Throughout his life Forrest moved often as a result of his father's career in the Air Force, living overseas and in several places across the United States. When asked where he could go if he could go anywhere, he responded with "There is nothing to see in this world. The best place to be is where you're at."  He loved his home and his family.

He was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Mary Pat Johnson and a brother, Guy Stockwell.

Forrest is survived by his wife Barbara of the home, his daughters, Sarah Stockwell, Burlington and Karen (Scott) Withers, Topeka, three grandchildren, Tanner, Kaitlyn, and Tucker, his brothers, Chris (Dr. Maggie) Stockwell, Montana, Mark (Jane) Stockwell, Virginia, Tom (Michelle) Stockwell, Illinois, Scott (Mary Alice) Stockwell, Nebraska, and Kelly (Lisa) Stockwell, Connecticut, Jay (Betsy) Stockwell, Minnesota. His sisters, Jill (Rob) Carl, Nebraska and Jane Stockwell, Montana, many nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends.

Forrest had a unique outlook on life which lead him to have an impact on many people's lives that he was unaware of.  He had a passion for education, reading and music and a love for his wife, children, and-most of all-his grandchildren. To quote his brother Guy- "You drive the changes, to progress is In your hands, you control your moves." Dad was brave until the very end and controlled his moves.  May we all find peace in his impact on this world and his brave ending.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 15, 2020, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Burlington. There will be a Rosary on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 6:30 P.M., with visitation following 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Private burial will take place at the Calvary Cemetery.
