Floie Allyene Hubbard Sauder, of rural Gridley, Kansas, died Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Coffey County Hospital in Burlington, Kansas. She was 83.

She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, December 26, 1937, the daughter of Floyd and Mildred (Brandon) Hubbard.

She graduated from Virgil High School in 1955. She was united in marriage to Howard Sauder on June 17, 1956. To this union two children were born, a son, Craig, and a daughter, Michelle.

She was a devoted wife and mother, helped extensively on the cattle ranch and farm, and enjoyed spoiling her nieces and nephews spending summers on the farm, hosting birthday parties complete with wiener roasts, homemade ice cream, and fishing. The farm acreage later on became a hub for hunters. She was an accomplished cook and was well known for preparing twice as much food as was needed.

In 1984, she was employed by SRS in Emporia, Kansas, as a social worker, working closely with families and children. She cared deeply for the families in her care, often unselfishly using her own resources, working long hours, and loved the work she did until her retirement in 2005.

She was a member of Gridley United Methodist Church and Harmony EHU.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard: her daughter, Michelle; and two brothers, Allen Hubbard and Michael Hubbard.

She is survived by her son, Craig, of the home; one sister, Pamela (Larry) Knowles of Warsaw, Missouri; one brother, Frank (Paula) of Chanute, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Gloria Hubbard of Yates Center, Kansas; a host of nieces and nephews, and her lifelong friend, Paula Raaf of rural Gridley.

She will lie in state Friday afternoon at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington for viewing.

A family visitation will be held at Gridley United Methodist Church on Saturday, Sept 18, 2021 from 1-1:30 p.m., followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Virgil Cemetery.
