Faye Jean Schimdt of Burlington, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. She was 73.

She was born March 24, 1950, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, one of the six children of James Abe and Faye Edwyna (McPherron) Stout.

She spent her childhood in Oklahoma and California following her father's work on the railroad. She graduated from high school at Wagoner, OK, in 1968, and then trained in Radiation Technology for two years at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

On June 9, 1973, she and Lamont "Monte" Schmidt, Jr. were married at Wagoner. They became the parents of four children. They lived in Illinois, Idaho, and Oklahoma, before moving to Burlington in 1981. Faye cared for her children and home until being employed as a Radiology Technologist at the Coffey County Hospital in 1999. She retired in 2018.

Faye was a member of the First Baptist Church in Burlington. She taught Sunday School, mission classes, and helped wherever she was needed. She was a Girl Scout Leader for a number of years as her daughters were growing up. She was also a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Assoc. She was a member of two professional organizations, ASRT and ARRT.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Rita Sue Stout.

She leaves Monte, her husband of more than 50 years; her children, Diana Raye Petterson, Topeka, KS, Lamont Schmidt, III (Kristie), Wichita, KS, Sarah Michelle Schmidt, Harper, KS, Kimberly Joy Larkin (Kevin), Wakarusa, KS, and Regina Kay Hammons (Michael), Wagoner, OK; two grandchildren, Niqqi Hartman and Lillian Faye Larkin; siblings, Frances Arlene Gilmore ,Wagoner, OK, James Edwin Stout, Wagoner, OK, Johnny Dale Stout (Paula), Broken Arrow, OK, and Helen Raye Kelly, Wagoner, OK; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Burlington.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 18, 2023, at Greenhill Cemetery at Muskogee, OK.

The family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, December 15, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
