Evelyn Mae Young, 96, of Waverly, Kansas, passed away early Sunday, October 18, 2020, at the Coffey County Hospital.

Evelyn was born March 20, 1924, at Virgil, KS, the daughter of Samuel and Agnes (Eaton) Wyble. She attended rural grade school and attended Gridley High School.

On October 15, 1941, she and Glen Irven Young were married at Burlington. They became the parents of 8 children.

In 1963 they moved to Kansas City, KS, and returned to Coffey County, moving to LeRoy, in 1986, after Glen retired.

Evelyn was a homemaker caring for her family and home. She was a talented seamstress and did sewing and alterations for her family and others.

She had been a resident of Sunset Manor in Waverly for the past several years.

Her husband, Glen, preceded her in death on August 25, 1992.

She was also preceded in death by 3 sons, Glenn A., Thomas, and Paul Young, and her two brothers, Charles and James "Bud" Wyble.

She leaves three daughters, Bonnie Swank of Burlington, Christina Gibbs of Kansas City, KS, and Evelyn Shields of Independence, MO; two sons, Samuel Young of Diamond, IL, and David Young of Gardner, KS; 13 grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Cremation is planned. A Celebration of Life for Evelyn will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. The service will also honor her son, Samuel Young, who passed away on February 14, 2021 in Joliet, IL.
