Emalee Charlotte Culver Solander, 88, died Monday, January 25, 2021 at Yates Center Health and Rehab.

She was born November 14, 1932 in rural Woodson County, the daughter of Lewis and Emma (Mische) Culver. She attended schools in Woodson County and graduated from Yates Center High School in 1950.

On September 16, 1950, she married Billy E. Solander at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Yates Center. He preceded her in death on August 28, 2009.

Emalee worked as a seamstress from 1965 until her retirement in 1994. She was lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar Society of Yates Center.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Louie, Robert, Gene, Richard, Albert, and John; five sisters, Louise, Irene, Rosemary, Joyce, and Miriam.

Emalee is survived by her six children, James Solander and wife Sandi, Chanute, Janet Jensen and husband David, Milton, FL, Mary McNeil, Yates Center, Donald Solander and wife Teena, Gas, KS, Jean Dempsay, Yates Center, and Sarah Petit and husband Rocky of Yates Center; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Donna Culver, and many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 29, 2021 at 1:30 P.M. at Yates Center Cemetery.
