On February 7, 2020, Elmer Adolph Henry Gleue passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord at his home while surrounded by family.

Elmer was born in Bremen, Kansas on June 25, 1924. He was the sixth child of seven children. Born to Fred H. Gleue and Alwine (Riggert) Gleue.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Hermansberg Lutheran Church in Bremen. He went to high school for one year in Hanover, Kansas. Elmer's parents and family moved to Coffey County in 1940. He attended LeRoy High School and graduated in 1943.

Elmer married Illa Rhue Berry on August 15, 1948. To this union, four children were born – Sandra (Kent) Gunlock, Douglas (Karen) Gleue, Debra Erhart, and Gregory (Penny) Gleue, all of LeRoy, six grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Selma Crome, Bremen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Helmuth, Fred, Richard, and Erwin, and his sister, LuElla Fischer.

Elmer served in the National Guard. He was one of the founding members of the LeRoy Cooperative Association. He served twenty years on the board of the Federal Land Bank of Emporia. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church for eighty-one years with participation in the choir and as a church officer. He spent 71 years doing the thing he loved, farming. He based his life on faith, family, and farming.

Services will be at 10:00 A.M., Monday, February 10, 2020, at St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
