Edward Everett Mewhinney, Jr., 72, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, September 16, 2022, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS.

Edward was born July 19, 1950, the son of Edward E. Mewhinney, Sr. and Marjorie Speck Mewhinney. Mr. Mewhinney was disabled. He made his home at Shields Adult Care Home later known as Mosaic in Southeast Kansas in Pittsburg, KS, from the time he was 3 years old until moving to Emporia in 2018.

He loved hats, ties, and any kind of party.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Mewhinney and Marjorie Lundy; two sisters, Elizabeth Mapes and Elsie Grogg; and two brothers, Franklin and Ernest Mewhinney.

He leaves a number of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Edward's life will be held starting at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Kelley Hall at Kelley Park in Burlington, KS.
