Edward E. Birk, 76, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away Friday morning, September 25, 2020, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, in the company of his wife and children.

Edward was born April 12, 1944, in Burlington, Kansas, where he would spend his entire life. He attended the Burlington schools and graduated from Burlington High School with the Class of 1962. On July 19, 1962, he enlisted in the Kansas National Guard.

On May 25, 1968, he and Linda Kay Long were married at Piqua, Kansas. They became the parents of four children.

Edward farmed his entire adult life. He also put up a lot of hay in earlier years. In 1980 he formed Birk Oil Company which he continued to operate.

He and Linda joined the Christian Church of Burlington in 1975 where Edward had served as a Deacon, Elder, and Treasurer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Willis Birk and Robert Birk.

He leaves Linda, his wife of more than 52 years; his children, Brian Birk (Laura), Danielle Birk (Matt), Darrin Birk (Megan), and Justin Birk, all of Burlington; 7 grandchildren, Dale Birk (Summer), Jessica Thomsen (Blake), Baylor Ernst, Bryton Hammond, and Molly, Koby, and Cohen Birk; 3 great-grandchildren, Bo, Kruize, and Gracie Thomsen; three sisters, Shirley Hart, Kingman, AZ, Jeanette Ward, Hiawatha, KS, and Diana Hess, Burlington; a brother, Allen Birk, Bartlesville, OK; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 29, 2020, at Graceland Cemetery in Burlington.
