Joseph Elden Duane Taylor, youngest child of Chester A. and Pharby Sasser Taylor, was born at Burchard, Nebraska, on March 18, 1926, and departed this life on January 8, 2022, at the Coffey County Hospital in Burlington, KS, at the age of 95.

He attended elementary school and his first two years of high school at Colony, KS, moving with his parents to a farm five miles west of Yates Center in 1942. He graduated from Yates Center High School in 1944 and served eighteen months in the U.S. Army.

Duane and Patty Stockebrand were united in marriage on November 14, 1948, in the Methodist Church in Burlington, KS. They lived their entire married life on their farm six miles west of Yates Center where they raised their three children, Allen, Kenneth, and Angela.

Duane was a very private man, doing all his own work, but he took time to help others also. He wired four of the neighborhood houses when the REA electricity came. He served on the School Board, the Woodson County COOP Board, and as a Trustee of the United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband and father who took great pride in his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty, on May 1, 2013, and also his parents, six sisters, and two brothers.

He is survived by his children, Allen Taylor and wife Lynda of Yates Center, Ken Taylor of Lincoln, IL, and Angela Liber of Yates Center; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Private family services will be held with burial in Yates Center Cemetery.
