Dorothy R. Mauer, 87, formerly of Gridley, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Plaza West in Topeka.

She was born January 11, 1931, in LeRoy, Kansas, the daughter of Theodore and Georgia (Cottingham) Johnson.

On June 18, 1950, she and Willard Mauer were married at the Christian Church Parsonage in LeRoy.

Dorothy and Willard moved to Topeka where they made their home until Willard's retirement in 1987. They were small town folks at heart and they moved to Gridley after Willard's retirement. Willard preceded her in death on August 4, 2009, following 59 years of marriage.

Dorothy was also preceded by her parents; two brothers, Ted and Dudley Johnson; and a sister, Viola Anderson.

She leaves her children, Willard Mauer, Jr. and wife Irene of Topeka, Theodore "Butch" Mauer and wife Melissa of Chiefland, FL, and Ilene Emery and husband Jim of Topeka; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a brother, Richard Johnson of Norwich, KS.

Cremation is planned. The family will meet with friends from 2:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.
