Dorothy Fern Marsh, 91, of Waverly, Kansas, passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Sunset Manor in Waverly. She was born October 5, 1930, in Waverly, the daughter of Everett and Fern Dorcas. She grew up in Waverly and graduated from Waverly High School in 1948. On November 21, 1948, she and Francis Marsh were married and inseparable until he preceded her in death on December 12, 2014.

After completing teacher training in Ottawa, KS in the fall of 1948, Dorothy taught grades one through eight in a one-room schoolhouse in rural Waverly for one year. After their first child, Don, was born, Dorothy enjoyed making a wonderful home for her immediate and extended family and anyone who happened to drop by until she entered Sunset Manor in late 2019. Dorothy was a member of the Prairie View Neighbors EHU for many years. She loved to create with her hands, most notably beautifully crocheted doilies, tablecloths, and afghans. Like Francis, she also loved seeing the wonders of the world, playing games with friends and loved ones, reading, and doing anything with her family.

She leaves her three sons and their wives, Don and Linda Marsh of Waverly, David and Beth Marsh of Waverly, and Richard and Virginia Marsh of Westphalia; a brother, Glenn Dorcas and his wife, Phyllis, of Waverly; six grandchildren, Amy, Jake, Wes, Karen, Jessica, and Katherine; and eleven great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 P.M. Friday, February 25, 2022, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery northeast of Burlington. The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
