Donald Burle Tice, 87, long-time resident of Burlington, Kansas, passed away Monday morning, October 10, 2022, at Bentonville, Arkansas.

Don was born March 3, 1935, at Putnam, Oklahoma, the son of Lloyd O. Tice, Sr. and Hazel E. (Haggard) Tice. He graduated from Burlington High School. He then served in the U.S. Air Force.

On September 24, 1960, he and Darlene Kay McCartney were married at Topeka, KS. They became the parents of two children, Debbie and Daniel.

He was employed by the local Rural Electric Cooperative and then worked as an electrician at the Wolf Creek Generating Station.

He was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church and enjoyed traveling to Mexico on several mission trips to build houses.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Lloyd Tice, Jr.; and his sister, Jeanie Friend.

Don is survived by his wife, Darlene, of Bentonville, AR; his daughter, Debbie Tice, Bentonville, AR; his son, Daniel Tice and wife Anne, Waverly, KS; 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; his brother, Larry Tice and wife Marjie, and sister, Mary Walling, all of Burlington; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

While most folks in town knew him as "Tightwad Tice" or the only driver in the county to get a ticket for driving too slow, his family knew him as a loving husband, incredible father, spectacular grandfather and a wonderful great grandfather. He had a heart for service and caring for others and was an incredible role model to all. He will be missed each and every day.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Inurnment will follow in Graceland Cemetery at Burlington.
