Dolores LaFaun Holcomb (Hoch) was born on December 12, 1932 in the small community of Catesby OK to Fred William and Lula Louise Hoch. She passed away on Monday January 6, 2020 at Halstead Health and Rehab in Halstead KS. She is survived by her son Bill Holcomb of Coyville KS, daughter Donella (Doug) Spaulding of Rose Hill KS and her son James Holcomb of Cheney KS. Her survivors also include 14 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, her son Damon, her daughter Debra, son-in law Robert, her brother Willie and her parents.

When Dolores was 3 years old, her family moved from Catesby to the town of Shattuck OK where they lived until WWII broke out. At that time, they moved to California where both of her parents worked in a defense plant to aid the war effort. Many items were being rationed during the war including gasoline, so they were unable to return back to home to Shattuck until the war ended.

Dolores attended Shattuck Public Schools except for the 3 years they were in California. While still a teenager, she fell in love with a local boy whose family lived in the Shattuck OK area their entire life. Earl Duane Holcomb was the love of her life and they were married on December 24, 1950 while Dolores was still a senior in High School and only 18 years old. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Wichita KS where her husband was employed. Dolores completed her graduation requirements at Wichita East High School and in May of 1951 they moved back to Shattuck OK where she graduated with her class

In November 1951, their daughter Debra was born, followed by a son Damon in 1953. Unable to make a living in Shattuck, they moved back to Wichita in 1955 where her husband was employed at Boeing. They bought their first home in 1956 and 3 more children followed, Bill in 1959, Donella in 1961 and James in 1971.

In 1987 after her husband retired, they moved to Toronto KS where they had purchased a home in the country on a ten-acre plot a few years earlier. They enjoyed country living for a few years and in 1994 bought a home in the town of Toronto where she lovingly cared for her ailing husband until his death in May 1995. Another tragedy would befall her that year when her son Damon died just 4 short months following her husband.

She lived alone in Toronto until her own failing health forced her to move back to Wichita in 2007 where she lived with her daughter Debra and son-in-law Robert. In August 2015 she moved to Halstead Health Rehab where she remained until her death. She never knew of her daughter Debra's passing just 3 months earlier so we know she will be happy to be reunited with her again.

At an early age Dolores gave her heart to Jesus at a revival meeting in Shattuck. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Shattuck shortly thereafter. She was a long time member of Meridian Avenue Baptist Church in Wichita and while in Toronto was a member of the Toronto Christian Church.

Dolores had many hobbies which included knitting, reading, writing poetry and playing bridge. She was a homemaker for most of her adult life and while her children were young she was a room mother, girl scout leader and a member of the PTA. She made homemaking and motherhood her career. A clean house and home-cooked meal always awaited her family. Her children grew up in a traditional home where faith in God, family and hard work were first and foremost in their lives. We will miss her dearly but rejoice that she is with her Savior and reunited with the family who passed before her.

A private graveside service will be held on Thursday January 9 ^th at Toronto Township Cemetery in Toronto Kansas. A private family Celebration of Life has been planned in lieu of funeral services.
