Denice Ann Julian, 66, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, after becoming ill at home.

Denice was born August 29, 1951, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Wesley Eugene and Bernice Martha (Haas) Spencer. She grew up on the family farm near Gridley, Kansas, with her three brothers. She attended the Gridley schools graduating from Gridley High School. She then attended Emporia State University.

She made her home in Yates Center where she worked at the sewing factory for a number of years before being employed at the Woodson County Clerk's Office in 2003. She was appointed County Clerk in 2014 and then was elected to another term which she was currently serving.

She was a member of the Republican Women and the American Legion Auxiliary. In her leisure time she enjoyed spending time with her family and she also enjoyed watching the Royals and KU Basketball.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Wesley Spencer.

She leaves her children, Michael Julian and companion Jamie Nitsch of Yates Center, Anna Marie Corbett and husband Mark of Erie, Kansas, and Nicole Collins and husband Justin of Dothan, Alabama; five grandchildren, Dakota Julian, Wyatt George, J.T. Collins, and Colt and Easton Corbett; two brothers, Harlan Spencer and wife Linda of Daphne, Alabama, and Steve Spencer and wife Carol of Emporia, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Wyvonne Spencer of Yates Center; several nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, August 10, 2018, at the Yates Center Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.
