Debra Leigh Honeycutt, 62, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at her home at the COF Miller House in Burlington.

Debbie was born April 21, 1956, at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. She was the daughter of Dirk and JoAnn (Augustine) Honeycutt.

Debra has been blessed to be a part of the COF family for over 40 years. She loved cowboys, John Wayne, and Johnny Cash. Debbie would play her guitar and would sing one of her favorite songs, "Ring of Fire". She would also sing "Happy Birthday" to her house mates and staff on their birthday. Over the past few years Debbie was able to attend several concerts and a couple of her favorites were Luke Bryan and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

She loved all holidays and enjoyed decorating her house, going around town looking at other people's decorations, and putting on performances for everyone's enjoyment. Anytime her sister, Terry, would come to town their favorite way of celebrating was to go out for "pizza, diet coke, and 2 cookies".

Some of her favorite activities were competing in Special Olympics, watching football, bull riding, and Channel 13, drawing, going on carriage and hay rack rides, parades, and plays.

Debbie loved all people but her favorite people were those in uniforms, especially policemen and firemen.

She participated in volunteer work throughout her life including recently making Santa Bags for all the boys and girls in Lebo, handing out candy at the Trunk or Treat in Burlington, and making cakes for special functions.

She is survived by her mother, JoAnn Honeycutt, and her sister, Terry Honeycutt Beckerjeck and husband John, all of Leavenworth, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her father; her maternal grandparents, John and Virginia Augustine and her paternal grandparents, Floyd and Christine Honeycutt; her uncle, Tobe Honeycutt; and her boyfriend, Bill Marton.

Cremation is planned. Her family and friends will gather for a celebration of Debbie's life at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 4, 2018, at the COF Workshop in Burlington.

Inurnment will be at a later date in Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
