David Lee Brunner, Sr., 74, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the Allen County Regional Hospital in Iola, Ks.

He was born September 24, 1948, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Joseph Paul and Georgia May (McVey) Brunner.

David graduated from high school and then became a part of the Kansas National Guard, serving for more than 20 years before retiring.

He was married to Virginia Jones and they were the parents of three children. They were later divorced.

On June 2, 1990, he and Sandra Elaine "Sandy" Robinson were married. Sandy preceded him in death on July 15, 2015.

David enjoyed a lot of things, but nothing made him happier than having a fishing pole in his hand.

He was also preceded in death by his son John Brunner, who died on March 17, of this year; his parents; and five siblings, Josephine, Analyn, Charles, Sally, and Lester.

He is survived by his children, Sarah Brunner and David Lee Brunner Jr.; his step daughter, Jeanne Rudolph; 7 grandchildren, Ashley Anis, Skylar Brunner, Kersia Yarnell, Blake McDaniel, Jaedyn Spencer, Colton Brunner, and Braden Brunner; other relatives and friends.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at the Yates Center Cemetery at Yates Center.
