Catherine Rose (Pfannenstiel) Brungardt was born June 9, 1941 in Ness County, KS and passed away on December 10, 2021 in Burlington, KS.

Cathy was raised in large farm family and spent her youth taking care of siblings, livestock and having adventures.   After graduating high school, she married LeRoy Brungardt on November 28, 1963.  To this union two children were born.

Cathy had a variety of jobs over her lifetime including working for the phone company, the newspaper, and a local greenhouse but her primary role was homemaker and caregiver.

Cathy showed her love to her family in homemade meals and care in every detail for them.   Cathy's grandson Kevin was born in 1999 and she devoted herself to the role of grandmother and helped raise him.  She volunteered for many years at his school in Gridley and was known for her incredible artistic skill in creating billboards.   When her husband LeRoy was diagnosed with cancer in 2007, she selflessly cared for his every need until his death in 2008.  She was so proud of her grandchildren.

Cathy possessed the rare skill of being able to fix almost anything, create delicious meals from scratch, and a green thumb.  For many years she enjoyed renovating antiques, gardening, and working in her yard.   She also enjoyed harassing and joking with her family.

Cathy was proceeded in death by her parents Linus and Veronica (Schlitter) Pfannenstiel, her siblings Jerry, Bernie, Frank, Linus Jr., Joe, and Mike, and her beloved husband, LeRoy.

She is survived by her children Sonya Brungardt of Burlington, KS, Lee (Jennifer) Brungardt of Council Bluffs, IA and her three grandchildren, Kevin, Olivia, and Ian.  She is also survived by her siblings Mary Zulkoski of Hastings, NE, Inez of Ark City, KS, Arnold of DeSoto, KS, Serena of Hutchinson, KS and Vincent (Gale) of Salina, KS as well as sister-in-law Geralyn (Jerry) of Arizona.

A Rosary and Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, December 19 ^th at 6:30 pm at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington, KS.   A Mass of Catholic burial will be held on Monday, December 20 ^th at 10am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Burlington, KS.  Memorials are to St. Francis Xavier or Wounded Warriors.
