Carolyn M. McWhorter, 67, of Burlington, passed away Monday, January 11, 2021 at her home.

Carolyn was born in Neosho, MO, on October 9, 1953 to Richard and Beatrice (Norton) Glasgow. As a child her family moved from Missouri to Kansas where she and her mother and brother moved to be with her step-dad, Owen Bailey. Carolyn went to school and graduated from Waverly High School.

On December 19, 1975, Carolyn married Larry "Dennis" McWhorter and they began their lives in Wylie, TX, where they had two children. On February 2, 1987, the family moved to Burlington.

Carolyn worked various jobs throughout her life. She retired in 2010 from USD 244 after 15 years. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and pets. She was an avid gardener, sewer, and crafter. A stroke in 2019 caused her health to decline rapidly.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Owen; husband, Larry; grandmother, Andrea Norton; aunts and uncles.

Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Kristi McWhorter Jennings, Burlington, and her children Dennis and Adaline; her son, Shane McWhorter, Burlington, and his children Kaitlynn, Abigail, and Jase; brother, Vernon Glasgow and wife Sue, Waverly; many other relatives and friends.

Private family interment will be at Bailey Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Jones Funeral Home to help with expenses, or to Hand in Hand Hospice, and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, Kansas 66839.
