Carol Sue Crotts, 73, of rural LeRoy, passed away Saturday evening at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

Carol was born on February 7, 1946, at Emporia, the daughter of L. Hubert and Wilma (Russell) Cooksey.  She grew up in Burlington, and graduated from Burlington High School in the Class of 1964.

On October 16, 1964, she was married to Edward Eugene Crotts at the Burlington United Methodist Church. She and Eddie would be the parents of three children.

Carol loved her life as a farm wife and mom, and relished everything from cleaning the house to driving the grain truck. She kept a big garden and canned vegetables and her famous tomato juice.  She was a terrific cook and hosted big family holiday celebrations.

Carol grew up in the Methodist Church in Burlington, and had attended the LeRoy Christian Church.  She also had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Burlington.  In 1980, she began a career in document control at the Wolf Creek nuclear plant.  She enjoyed her work for 26 years, retiring at 61.

She was active all her life, and spare time would find her bowling, water skiing, camping, or playing cards with family.  She was the biggest fan of her kids and grandkids in all their sports (especially track), and never missed a game or meet if she could get there.  She was also a big fan of the KU Jayhawks.

Carol is survived by her husband of 54 years, Eddie Crotts of rural LeRoy; by her children, Tamara Brownfield and Marty of Topeka, Lori Garland and Kevin of LeRoy, and Jeff Crotts and Amy of Lake Lotawana, Missouri; six grandchildren, Ariele Brownfield, Sydney Brandenburg and Cory, Kristen Ellington and Brandon, and Jaret, Logan, and Brooke Crotts; a sister, Mary Petrie of Arizona; and many other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington.  The family will receive friends for visitation at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until service time.  Inurnment will be in Wooster Cemetery at a later date.
