Calvin Dean Freeman, 75, lifetime resident of Burlington, KS, passed away early Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the Life Care Center in Burlington.

He was born November 7, 1948, at Emporia, KS, the son of Calvin "Buck" and Alice (Danford) Freeman. He graduated from Burlington High School in 1968 and attended Flint Hills Technical School in Emporia.

On June 16, 1968, Calvin was united in marriage to the love of his life, Diana Kraft at Gridley, KS. In that same year, he enlisted in the Kansas Army National Guard, and proudly served his country for 9 years. They then became the proud parents of a daughter, Belinda Rae, and a son, Bradley Dean.

Calvin worked alongside his father in his younger years as a master carpenter. Later, he and his wife Diana passionately owned and operated Freeman Plumbing Heating and Air for the next 56 years making lifelong friends along the way. His work ethic and pride in his business never went unnoticed. Calvin spent priceless hours maintaining his lawn, garden and landscaping which showed when he received Coffee County Lawn of the month. He was so proud to display that sign in his yard!

His favorite times were spent with his family, his wife, children, and grandchildren, always teasing and playing with the kids. Whether it was hunting or fishing he was always excited to spend time with his grandchildren.

He was a member of the Burlington Christian Church, and had served on the Burlington City Council.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Rodney Dewayne.

He is survived by Diana, his wife of nearly 56 years; his daughter, Belinda Murray and husband Bruce, of Burlington and their children Shelby (Hannah) Murray and Toby Murray; his son, Bradley Freeman and wife Malessa, of Kansas City, MO, and their daughter Angelina (Ryan) Tyler of Kansas City, MO, and their son, John Dean Tyler; siblings, Sherry (Jerry) Burris, Burlington, KS, Cathy DePaepe, Admire, KS, Becky (Charlie) Anstaett, Portland, TX, and Brian (Jennifer) Freeman, Overton, NE; a number of nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow in Gridley Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Jones Funeral Home.
