Billy Dale Redding, 96, of rural Waverly, KS, died Monday, April 29, 2024, at the Life Care Center in Burlington.

He was born in rural Coffey County on October 24, 1927. His parents were Walter and Gladys (Thompson) Redding.

He attended Paynedale and Glendale grade schools.

He was a lifelong farmer and grade A dairyman. He was a longtime member of N.F.O. and DHIA. He was on the Long-Scott Creek Watershed Board. In later years he worked for the Coffey County Highway Dept. as a boom mower operator until retirement.

He was married to Ola Mae Hutchens of Murray, KY, on July 19, 1959, in Murray. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2009.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Ola Mae; his parents and his stepmother, Blanche; brothers Dean and Harlan; an infant brother, Milton; and a niece, Kayeleen Krull.

He is survived by 3 sons, Dale, Gridley, David and wife Debra, Waverly, and Joe and wife Andrea, Platte City, MO; a daughter, Joyce Redding, Topeka; 6 grandsons, Jamie Dreiling and Heath, Dylan, Brent, Trevor, and Blake Redding; a granddaughter, Destiny Brown; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn Krull, Topeka, KS; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Jones Funeral Home in Burlington. Burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, May 3, at the funeral home.
