William Camden "Bill" Thompson, 60, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at his home in Fort Myers, Florida.

Bill was born on October 20, 1959 in Burlington, Kansas, the son of Judd Alexander Thompson and Nancy Eva Traywick.

Bill spent his childhood on a small farm outside Burlington and enjoyed playing sports all the way through high school. Bill graduated from Burlington High School in 1977. He attended the University of Kansas and graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1981. He was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

Bill met and married Rebecca Wilson in Lawrence, Kansas in 1981 and together they had two children, Carinne and Kelli.

After college, Bill went to work in Marshalltown, Iowa for Fisher Controls in 1981 as a Sales Engineer. He was transferred to Austin, Texas for a few years, then moved to St Louis, Missouri.

In St Louis, he left Fisher to go to work for Munger Company. Munger Company was a representative for Fisher Controls and it was quite the feather in his cap to get a nod to move from Fisher to Munger. Bill took over the reigns as the Director of Systems and Sales Solutions in 2000, and then transferred to Overland Park, Kansas where the company changed its name again to Experitec. In his various capacities as an engineer and manager, Bill had the opportunity to travel all over the world.

Bill decided to retire in 2015 and move to Fort Myers, Florida, where he bought a home in Pelican Preserve. Bill's dream retirement came true and he enjoyed every minute of it.

Bill loved life. He made friends easily, and had many of them. He had a few very close friends whom he thought of as family. Bill was an avid golfer. He loved music, including going to Kansas concerts which he did every chance he got. He was gregarious, generous, witty, and kind. He loved laughing and making people laugh.

Most of all, Bill loved his family. He made trips home to Kansas to see them whenever he could and talked with them and about them all the time. He was a wonderful friend, son, brother, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his mother, Nancy Thompson, Burlington, Kansas; his older brother, Mike Thompson and wife LeAnne of Shawnee, Kansas; his daughter Cari Trompeter ,her husband Joel, and grandchildren Addison and Jack; his daughter Kelli Burge, her husband Justin and grandson Connor; his step-daughter Jamie Murphy and husband Tye; his step-daughter Jenny Cygiel, and many other relatives and friends.
