Betty Jean Hunter, 96, Burlingame, passed away at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Waverly, Kansas on October 27, 2019.

Betty was born on January 20, 1923, at Waverly, Kansas, the oldest child of George K. Marsh and Etta E. Weiss. She grew up on the family farm and attended Melvern High School. Then her parents moved to Riverside, California, where she graduated from high school. After graduation the family later returned to Kansas and Betty started her working career.

On July 2, 1944 she was united in marriage to John W. Hunter in York, Nebraska. They were the parents of one daughter, Tonia Jean. After making their home on the farm, near Westphalia, Kansas, they eventually made their home in Salina, Kansas, where Betty was a secretary for Busboom and Rauh Construction Company for over 30 years. After her husband's death she moved to Burlingame, Kansas where she lived with her daughter, Tonia. She was a member of the Federated Church in Burlingame, the Fidelity Chapter of the Eastern Star, and many other clubs and organizations.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John, daughter Tonia, and brother Francis Marsh. Survivors include her brother, Byron Marsh and wife Yvonne, Longmont, Colo., sister Joyce Corbin, Topeka, sister-in-law Dorothy Marsh, Waverly, and other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Federated Church in Burlingame at 1:30 P.M. Inurnment at Glendale Cemetery, Waverly, Kansas.
