NOTICE: THE TIME OF THE SERVICE FOR BARBARA ALEXANDER HAS BEEN CHANGED TO FRIDAY.

Barbara Ellen Alexander, 87, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, February 11, 2021, at her home in Yates Center.

Barbara was born July 15, 1933, at Higbee, Missouri, the daughter of Pearl Theodore and Vera Ellen (Longdon) Early. She spent her childhood in Mexico, MO.

On December 11, 1950, she and Dorsey Leo Alexander were married at Belleville, IL. They became the parents of seven children.

Barbara was a member of the former First Christian Church in Yates Center.

Her husband, Dorsey Leo Alexander, preceded her in death on February 19, 1975. Barbara would spend the rest of her life caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Not only was she involved in her family's life, but she was involved with the youth of the community. She was an active fan of all the Yates Center High School sports teams, attending any game of any sport she could make it to.

She suffered the loss of her son, Kenneth Leo Alexander, on March 14, 1967. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons-in-law, Jim Carl and Todd Gregg; two brothers, Paul and William "Bill" Early; an infant sister, Rosalea Early; and a sister-in-law, Becky Early.

She leaves her children Brenda Carl of Shawnee, KS, Larry Alexander (Elaine) of Centerton, AR, Clyde Alexander (Kathleen) of Avon, OH, Tammy Fiscus (Bill) of Chanute, KS, Barbara Ann "Barbie" Gregg of Yates Center, and Christy Henthorne (Chris) of Atchison, KS; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles "Butch" Early (Betty), Donald "Corky" Early (Louise), and Melvin "Elmer" Early, a sister-in-law, Peggy Early; all of Mexico, Mo; numerous nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Cremation is planned. Private family memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 19, 2021, at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center. Graveside services will follow in Yates Center Cemetery.

There will be a come and go visitation from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Campbell Funeral Home. Masks are highly encouraged at services.
