Laura Anna  "Ann" (Evans) Gucene, 93, of Yates Center, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at her home.

Ann was born June 14, 1927, at Octavia, Nebraska, the 13 ^th child of Arthur O. and Gertrude (Saul) Evans. Her mother died when she was 14 months old.

Following graduation from high school in 1946 Ann moved to Yates Center and was employed as a telephone operator for a number of years.

On January 14, 1947, she and Ernest Gucene were married at Iola, KS. They became the parents of two daughters, Cheryl and Sheila Rae.

Ann enjoyed hobbies and crafts and especially enjoyed oil painting of landscapes.

She was a member of the former Christian Church in Yates Center, the American Legion Auxiliary, D.A.R., and was a hospice volunteer. She enjoyed being a homemaker and adored her grandchildren.

Her husband, Ernest, preceded her in death on April 30, 1999. Ann suffered the loss of her daughter, Sheila Ray Clarke, on March 31, 2001. She was also preceded in death by ten brothers and three sisters.

She leaves her daughter, Cheryl Walton of Yates Center; two grandchildren, Jennifer Walton and Jim Walton and wife Marci; five great-grandchildren, Tyler and Brittney Brouillard, Colton Aarstad, and Jayden and Brynna Walton; numerous nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at Yates Center Cemetery.

Mrs. Gucene will lie in state from 2:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at Campbell Funeral Home in Yates Center.
